Tea gardens represent the cultural and economic backbone of Assam, yet the workers and their families in remote estates often face severe challenges in accessing basic healthcare. On April 18, 2026, Maeyes Foundation took its mobile diagnostic screening team to the tea gardens of Digboi and Bagjan.
Our medical team set up temporary clinical screening rooms inside local community halls. Over the course of the day, more than 300 patients received detailed eye examinations, including objective refractions, ocular pressure tests, and retina checks. We identified 45 advanced cataract cases who were immediately scheduled for sponsored surgery support.
In addition to testing, we distributed free primary eye drops, ointments, and UV-protective sunglasses to laborers who work in harsh outdoor conditions. This camp is a part of our ongoing mobile outreach initiative to ensure that geographical isolation is not a barrier to quality vision.

Dilip Tanti 1 week ago ReplyWe tea garden workers rarely get a chance to see specialist doctors without traveling to the city. Having this camp right in our garden area was incredibly helpful. Thank you so much! -
Excellent initiative. The volunteers were patient and explained how to use eye drops correctly. We look forward to more such clinics in the future.
